God is not an American

Lately, there is something that has bothered me greatly, even to the point of it challenging the way I see my religion (my union with God).

I'm sure you have seen it. Those bumper stickers that say God bless America. Most polls will say that America is about 80% Christian. such a high number, isn't it? unfortunately, this number doesn't sit well with me. We live in a nation that is full of corruption, greed, slander, lust, and every other work of the flesh that has ever been mentioned in scriptures. Obviously, 80% is far FAR too high.

For what reason would God ever want to bless America? oh, I'm positive that God has allotted a certainly good deal of grace on the country in terms of giving it prosperity and good standing. but how long will that last?

Even now, our country is splitting into two. We have red states and blue states. Our country has hatred for each other. And why shouldn't it? We segregated ourselves from one another, and it has driven everyone to be forced to take a stand, either far right wing or far left wing. what has happened here. There is no cooperation. There is no peace. God Bless America?

What America?

Its time for you oh Christian to get off of your high horse and walk in the mud of another man's shoes. Go and dine with the sinners, the tax collectors and the pro-abortionist. Love them because God first loved you. Just because somebody doesn't share your view doesn't make them less of an American. it just means that they are actually using the liberties they have as Americans. Here in a few years, I believe that the table will be turned and it will be the right wing liberals who yell at us for not being patriotic.

Its time for us to be in the world and not of the world. I mean for real this time. feel free to love those who come into direct opposition of the way you see the world, the country, the government, or the people. and yes, that includes Democrats.

Remember, that you are smaller than you think you are. God is not an American. believe me. I have been all over the world in the name of God and I have come to find that He is in no association of any country. It was Joshua who said "are you for us, or against us?" and God said "No." if God were to say that about the nation of Israel, then what does that say about America? get over yourself American. yes, God has blessed this country. but what does that really mean really?

God might be for us and God might be against us, but maybe He doesn't care.

Be a lover of souls, not countries. there has been too many wars in the name of a country. and too often these countries believed that God was for them. remember, during world war I, the soldiers of both armies were carrying bibles. and for what?

God, help us to forget about such petty things as borders. Amen
